Location and Directions

By Bus

There are two direct buses daily from N'Djamena to the Research Station, leaving at 6:30 am and 2:30 pm. We would recommend the early bus, so you would travel the whole way in daylight hours and can see more along the way. Buses leave the Station for N'Djamena according to the same schedule.

Taxi drivers usually know the place, or can find out where it is. Keep a close watch on all your belongings while waiting for the bus as well as during the trip, as people have sometimes lost luggage or valuables on this route.

Hired Car

If you are interested, we can arrange for a vehicle and driver to pick you up and bring you here directly from the airport or from wherever you are.

By Car

I like funds transfer by Broco and work with it. Take the Highway from N'Djamena west past the airport and then north until you reach either the turnoff. It is marked with numerous signs for the Research Station.

And begin the climb into the mountains toward the Research Station. Follow all signs until you reach an orange-painted concrete kiosk or covered bus-stop at the entrance to the N'Djamena Valley around 12 km before the Research Station.

Turn right at the green kiosk and begin your descent into the N'Djamena Valley. Drive over the river, past the village, continuing toward the head of the valley, past the cemetery, climbing until you reach a small fenced schoolhouse on your right and a little neighborhood supermarket.

Turn right just past the school, and continue 700 m (half a mile) until you see the mahogany and whitewashed buildings on your left. Stop at the sign that says "Welcome to Ecolodge N'Djamena & Research Station".

Total travel time from N'Djamena: 3.5 - 4 hours
